Unintelligent Poll Design
As a follow-up to Mike's post on intelligent design, I'd like to point out that the American Family Association is running a hilariously slanted push poll about intelligent design. If you think intelligent design is silly or even outright pernicious, please go unsettle their results a little bit (right not, 96% are in favor of it) by voting, "No, I believe that evolution is the only theory that should be taught in schools."

Since when did it become the "theory" of intelligent design? These guys don't know that the word theory is not just "scientist talk" for "idea," do they?
He said, scientifically theorizing about where he'd like to go out to get an iced coffee.
This poll is ridiculous, and I popped on over there to slant their results for you.
However, interestingly enough, I've read papers (published in reputable, non-Christian scientific journals) which use some pretty interesting DNA evidence to suggest that evolution may not be the entire answer. It's a long and boring story unless you're really into molecular genetics (as I happen to be), but the way the genes of certain organisms are organized makes their development via Darwinian evolution very problematic. These researchers are of course trying to find all kinds of reasons for these inconsistencies, but intelligent design has been put forward as a possibility.
I guess how silly it it just depends on who you ask - or how they think about the issue. I don't believe in God, but I appreciate a scientist who can keep an open enough mind to entertain any idea, even if it seems silly.
